MINISTERING TO SENIORS

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY

The Prayer Shawl Group is doing many new things.  At least 40 blessed prayer shawls have already been given to people on the prayer list and to others.  Also we have given pocket prayer shawls to our military fighting overseas.  And a number of prayer shawls have been donated to Sentara’s Hospice program.  We are now making hats and scarves for the homeless in Portsmouth.

Do you like to knit or crochet?  Want to learn how?  Lessons are available.

We invite you to join us on Tuesday mornings, 10:00 am, in the Jeff Jones Room.  Contact Carolyn Holmes.

FEEDING THE 5,000
In 2001, we served over 4000 meals and set the goal of feeding the 5000. In 2002, we met that goal by serving 5007 meals. In 2003, we served over 5500 meals and set the goal for 6000 in 2004. This took much support from everyone at St. Christopher’s. From bringing in canned and boxed goods every week, helping prepare meals for the homeless or praying for our outreach programs. Everyone had a part in this ministry. At the end of the year we had served a total of 6,439!!!   more...
